I had it sitting in my shop for a year before I built it so no refund for me. My problem was more severe because, in addition to the screw he stripped, I also stripped one of the screws that anchors the phenolic top to the levelling screws below and another in one of the reducing rings. I had the same problem with stripped screws that Adrian did. Each corner of the phenolic top requires the adjustment of 3 screws to level it. It's like the parts that accept fasteners are made of butter. After I stripped the first screw I tried to be extra careful, to no avail. That seems pretty fussy to me. I will see if I can get a new piece of phenolic and make my own insert with my own levelling system.
It is also possible that the lamination process failed. As my husband began the installation of the router table, he found that it had a crack in the core where the router mounting plate goes. He feels that Kreg does not provide sufficient packaging to protect the table from rough handling during shipping. The router table and Kreg fence are not as well built as anticipated because some of the plastic parts seem to be light duty. Amazon customer service was great and we received a full refund.
I ordered the Precision Router Table Top, as well as the Kreg precision fence. The extruded aluminum fence is heavy, and easy to adjust. Starting with the fence, it took me around an hour and a half to complete assembly. The fence is mounted to the tabletop by attaching it to a piece of aluminum angle. I was immediately pleased with the weight of the table and fence, which should keep things stiff and solid. The directions were fairly easy, with well drawn pictures. My review is based completely on assembly, fit and finish and quality. And now for the.5 point deduction.
My first thought was to tear it down and call Kreg for a replacement, but I plan to reinforce the bracket by drilling more holes and adding more fasteners. The miter track is also rigid and fits into a pre milled slot and is mounted with 10-24 pan head screws which thread into brass thread inserts. Note to Kreg: Use threaded inserts. The table top is a MDF core with micro-dot face, and seems to live up to the "less friction" claim. Packaging of the fence, table and hardware was more than adequate. The predrilled holes in the table seem to be too large for the self tapping screws provided.
The fence and table top are very solid and sturdy. The adjustable fence faces are also laminated to provide a smooth surface. Of the four holes holding the bracket, one of them stripped while tightening.
